Software licensing option note
HP Business Copy for EVA offers a simple method of licensing. There are simply five choices: 1. The first option is a HP StorageWorks Business Copy EVA3000/4000/5000/6000/8000 series 1TB entry level license where up to 1TB of data can be replicated using HP Business Copy EVA software. 2. The second, and recommended, option is a HP StorageWorks Unlimited Capacity use per EVA3000/4000/5000/6000/8000 series license where the only limit to the amount of data that can be replicated is the total amount that the array hardware, controllers and disk drives can actually accommodate. Once purchased, you no longer have to purchase additional capacity licenses to accommodate new capacity growth. 3. The third option is the purchase of an upgrade from 1TB to Unlimited. The Upgrade License provides the same rights as Unlimited Capacity use per EVA license. 4. The forth option allows an upgrade path from an HP StorageWorks Unlimited Capacity per use license from a) EVA3000/4000 to EVA6000, b) EVA3000/4000 to EVA8000, or c) EVA5000/6000 to EVA8000 series 5. The fifth option is to activate the Oracle Integration capabilities in HP Replication Solutions Manager, part number T4390A must be ordered and the license key installed for each array supported in the Oracle application environment. Licensing Guidelines: 1. HP Replication Solutions Manager is included at no additional charge with the purchase of either HP Business Copy EVA, or HP Continuous Access EVA. 2. The total licensed capacity for a HP Business Copy LTU is based on the replicated source volume(s) usable capacity. Although Business Copy EVA can create up to 16 simultaneous snapshot copies of a single source storage volume, the license capacity required would only be equal to the sum of each replicated source volume's usable capacity. 3. HP Business Copy EVA licenses are not transferable to like, or unlike EVA models. When enabling HP Business Copy EVA features on an EVA a new license must be purchased, or in some cases an upgrade license may be purchased if upgrading an existing EVA array's model that already has HP Business Copy enabled. 4. HP Business Copy EVA monitors the amount of data being replicated as compared to the amount of data permitted to be replicated based on the License-to-use (LTU) capacity. If this threshold is exceeded, a warning event will be issued. The user will be permitted to continue using the HP Business Copy EVA features and will need to add the appropriate LTU to remain compliant to the End-User-License-Agreement (EULA).
